I noticed the amount of people that can't get this mod to work because they do not own Half-Life. This is a HALF-LIFE mod. Not a Half-Life 2 mod, not a half-life: source mod, not a counter-strike: source mod. A HALF-LIFE mod. It doesn't work with anyother game but HALF-LIFE. That will have solved most of the problems with people not being able to play this mod. You need a CD-Key, Steam and Half-Life for this to work. (You also need the mod but that's obvious.) Other problems can be solved by checking that the mod is installed into a directory like this
not anything like C:\Program Files\Valve\Half-Life. Then the mod will not work. Thanks and hope that that clears up most of you problems. |

my friend has a cdkey generator, so he and i can get an new account any time if we want |

No, you can't. Steam's cleverer than that. Stickied. |

Cool, thanks Civvy. |

I was pondering whether I should stikkay or not, when Civillian made it all so much easier BTW I fixed a small error, steamm <- extra m. Just so you won't wonderwhy I edited your post. Second edit: Moon Bride, such actions can earn you a premanent ban from Steam, along with the 1337 h4x0rz' ... |

ouch, its a bit of an eyesore I think we should shorten the title to "Where to install Brainbread" or "Half-Life required to play" or something along those lines. Also, we should clean up some of the old and useless stickies, such as: -How to deal with other forummates -> should be deleted (useless) -the last man standing mode -> renamed to "No ZP flaming tolerated" -Fiat Iustitia Pereat Mundus -> moved to offtopic, or deleted -New Moderator -> not so new any more, delete -BrainBread Nicknames -> redundant as most likely your forum name is your game name. Hopefully, with these changes, general won't be so "top heavy". |

ok. I have got half life and a cd-key (an original cd key) I play cs and dod all the time. I installed the game but when i click on the Icon it loads cs. The load command is as follows. "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\karl_hunt@ntlworld.com\counter-strike\hl.exe" -game brainbread +maxplayers 12 |
Posted by: JesusFoo April 23, 2005 07:48 pm |
try "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\karl_hunt@ntlworld.com\half-life\hl.exe" -game brainbread assuming you have a half-life folder. also brainbread should be in this folder... C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\karl_hunt@ntlworld.com\half-life\ |

Make sure you install and update half-life (by double clicking on the grayed out HL icon on your steam's Games List). Once installed, open Half-life and start one game (creates necessary files), quit half-life, reinstall BB, then it ishould work. |

everytime i try to run the mod, i keep getting a message that says that it cant load the file client.dll |
Posted by: DarknessGlams April 26, 2005 04:43 pm |
It's a problem with the client server. Either try re-installing Brainbread or re-download it. |

what is steam anyway? Is it installed with Opposing Forces oder Blue Shift?? Ive never heard about steam! Thanks! |
Posted by: JesusFoo April 27, 2005 09:18 pm |
it's valve's file delivery system, keeps all your crap in a nice easy to use unit and constantly feeds you updated files as they are released automatically. http://www.steampowered.com/. |

Orr what an ace description. Wasnt steam like one big bug at one time cos it crashed like nearly everytime you used it? |

This mod only works for half-life, not half-life 2? wat the heck?!? if it only works for half-life, and not half-life 2, why the heck did they even consider putting it on the half-life2 mod section? commen sense people! |

Actually, shouldn't the shortcut look something like the following?
If you try to launch the HL.exe program on it's own, you'll probably get an error unless STEAM automatically kicks in. |

ok, who ever helps me with this gets a IMAGINARY COOKIE. When i am installing BrainBread and when i check "Launch BrainBread", i get this: "Unable to Execute File: c:\program files\valve\ steam\steamapps\tay_5000\half-life\hi.exe CreateProcess failed; code 2 The system cannot find the file specified" then i pressed "ok" and TRY to start up BrainBread, i get this message: MISSING SHORTCUT "Windows is searching for hl.exe. To locate the file yourself, click browse." REMEMBER: Whoever helps me gets a imaginary cookie and i DO have Half-Life (both) |

So... If we do NOT have a copy of the original Half-Life we are pretty much screwed from playing Brainbread, eh?.. I have it on my Steam for some reason. I do not have the original disc anymore (stupid, stupid me) but my steam has the Single player game on it. I wonder if that'll work... Probably not though... |

actually thats exactly what you need |
