I mean NEW

Posted by: Fini November 04, 2004 03:15 pm
Yes, the new one rocks! wink.gif

I prefer the old one personally... I like the thought of this as a bright, sunny, colourful (mostly red of course) mod rather than a demonically possessed hell.

I want to see zombie bashing in the style of the 'of the Dead' films, almost entirely in well lit rooms or outdoors during overcast daylight.

hard to say, both are nice in their own way...
hmm think i like the new one a bit more, its somewhat more even and smoother in a way :/

I like the old one. It fits better into the map. The new one is kind of monotonic.

Posted by: Jakkar November 04, 2004 04:27 pm
*nods* I hope we get some more votes for the old one

Posted by: [PE]MadMax_FMM November 04, 2004 04:34 pm
I also thought about the possibility of using both of them... so you could select the skymap for yourself in the game. Should work when playing online.

the old one is better!!! i like sunny evenings

Posted by: Jakkar November 04, 2004 04:42 pm
That would be nice.. variety and options are always good. Things like that keep a mod fresh.

I've found just changing weapons skins and sounds in a mod can make it feel like half a new game.. changing the whole skybox, the whole surrounding atmosphere and horizon.. it would be great for people to change the feel of the game at the touch of a button.

I like the new one better but Max don't make the map to dark !

Posted by: The_Monk_Doegen November 04, 2004 05:29 pm
The new looks good. i vote for the new ... but the old has a own style .... the BB Style. tongue.gif

Posted by: [PE]MadMax_FMM November 04, 2004 05:34 pm
@Grumber: The overall lightning in the map is still the same. I didnŽt change a thing. The skymap has a huge influence, so changing it should be enough.

If this goes a success. Then we could add a darker map. If Max has the time and if Max feels up to it of course! smile.gif

Why is everybody so addicted to darkness? Yes, it's a good effect in horror movies but in most games it's just frustrating. What if you want to play BB in daytime? You won't be able to tell a friend from foe.

I like the old bright one happy.gif

Exactly! In fact i like maps which have a good usage of light and shadow, but i think that a beautiful scene counts more (even if it is bright) than a "has-to-be-dark-because-it-is-a-zombie-game" scene.
Why there always has to be a causality between zombies and dark places? In a dark map everything seems to be very artifical, because the darkness directly supports the presence of zombies; but we have another idea of a zombie feel... more post apocalyptical.

It's even more disturbing if suddenly all people are mutating into zombies in a calm and normal place. It's more surreal, strange and metaphyical... and interesting... in our opinion. biggrin.gif

I like the older one best

doom 3, everything was dark, first mods to come out where? right. tape-the-flashlight-to-the-guns mods.

go for the brighter one. the new dawn of the dead started out in daylight aswell. freaked me out when the light fell on that little girl. pretty dark movie for a dawn tho.

long story short: go for the old one. i'd like to see the rotten faces when i blow them back to hell.

i like the new one... i just think it looks a little better.

being able to chose between the two ingame would be best, if possible.

New sky by far

Posted by: Revolver707 November 05, 2004 08:16 am
New one is much real, very good job to you sir!

Posted by: Jakkar November 05, 2004 09:24 am
I remain firm on the old sky. Zombie games don't need to look like a day trip to hell. The essence of zombies as i've already said is:

Corrupted Innocense. All is innocent, but corrupted by the presence of the undead. The world is as it ever was but.. the cities are so quiet.. there are no cars...what was that movement in that door way? What's that noise? You're in a necropolis, and are going to die.

I would like some nice blue skies even.. blue skies, white clouds, sunlight with a nice lens flare like in DB_terrorbird for PE... an american suburb full of nice little houses with mailboxes, two car garages and white picket fences. Taken directly from the beginning of the Dawn remake, yes.

I like the darker one.

Btw.

That would be a good solution!

Posted by: [PE]MadMax_FMM November 05, 2004 11:21 am
I think that this would be the only solution...

WeŽll release BB with the old sky, but weŽll also release the optional skyfix if you want the new sky. I think that should be enough. You can play the same game online while using different skies.

Posted by: Grumber November 05, 2004 11:50 am
Just play one time Doom3
You never won't darkness in a game anymore. Cause sometimes you can't see your own weapon and that sucks really blink.gif

Posted by: Jakkar November 05, 2004 03:07 pm
Sounds good MadMax, choice is always good.
