My computer is using the internet... wirelessly.... does that make it go slower? Because my mom's computer is like really fast, but on this computer it's.. really slow, lmao.

Does using a wireless internet connection affect your internet speed greatly or just a little bit?

It depends. My wireless network is Cable, and me and my neighbor share it (which is about 5 computers). So there is slowdown. It also depends on the location and strength of your router. I have a Linksys, which is one of the better ones. The average speed of our computers' internet speed was about 48 Mbps, but with a direct connection, I believe that doubles. Thing is, you have to direct connect each computer, which is a big inconvienence. But then theres the fact you have customize this router shit just to host a god damn server. Direct connections you can host easily. People can mooch off your network if its not secured too I don't have that issue anymore. Not only did I password protect my network, I kicked those assholes outta the neighborhood. They won't be coming back for a long time. There are many give and takes to wireless, and I partially regret getting mine. By the way, did you get Cable or DSL? |

Mine is very slow wirelessly.
-------------------- This is what Ive said for the past couple months every time has requested source: BB source is highly unlikely because the mod team (Ironoak) has decided to use the crystal engine to create an rpg, although they have said there is a small chance of going to source but please, for the sake of all mankind, do not request a port and/or create polls, or even useless threads about the porting of BB, because it is most likely not going to happen, thank you for reading.

My connection varies between great and poor, but that's mostly because of stress from the cable company. Or something.

Is the router that thing with three green lights? or the thing sticking out of the back of the computer that is using the internet wirelessly?

I think the three light thingy is the router. But I'm not sure.
