Death comes for us: Cause and Effect

It seemed like so long ago, what happened at the nuclear plant. It changed almost every aspect of live in Los Angeles. Some sort of explosion at nuclear plant it triggered The Day of Change, no one knows what the cause was maybe some sort of terrorist sabotage or a leak, maybe a idiot forgot to release pressure on a valve, but no matter what the cause was the result would have been the same. The effects of the radiation or some sort of chemical triggered a mutation, it destroyed almost all brain cells that controlled thinking, logic, and some motor functions except few basics instincts survive and feed.

It was night time my team, by my team I mean Kevins team I was only the grunt, was one of the first teams, or clean up crews as I call it, called in to investigate the remains of a nuclear plant. I remember it so clearly everything I remember because it was mostly flat with a lot of black stuff everywhere and some walls still standing. When we first arrived we saw no signs of life. Our objective was to find the cause of the explosion and retrieve what was left of the bodies. I really dont know why I was apart of the team called in for the mission it didnt really make sense why would they send two marksmen in to investigate a nuclear meltdown? Then again I didnt really care as long as I got some action.

A few feet away I heard Charlene talking on the radio Hey, you guys I found a body, on the grid it should be at H-3. Ohhh H-3 I hated those two characters after the Day of Change, I could have ended it all by just stepping onto the charred radioactive body as I walked over to her area. But noo Charlene had to examine it in its current state. I looked down onto the remains it looked sort of like a scarecrow or something that Ive seen in a movie.

A few seconds later I heard footsteps from behind of me. I turned around and saw Kevin followed by two soldiers wearing NBC suits carrying a stretcher. Because he was higher ranking I hate to salute him which I hated to do. Charlene also greeted him with a salute and said Hello, sir the body is over here he replied Very good work Charlene he turned around and pointed at me you there grunt get over here. Oh that bastard calling me grunt and Im in his team hes suppose to know my name. I hesitated a moment before walking over to him and greeted him with Hello, sir I have a name you know I knew behind his gasmask he was smiling when he said Well, lets hear your name and rank. I responded Jake, Specialist in Marksmanship and strategy in a proud tone. He turned back to Charlene and said Help Charlene carry the body on the stretcher back to the medical tent, me and the soldiers will sweep the remaining area for more bodies. Fine I replied in a low disappointed tone. I didnt feel like doing grunt work.

I waited a moment as the soldiers put the stretcher down and lifted the crispy body onto it. Charlene walked over to the front end and signaled me to be back end of the stretcher. I resentfully picked it up and followed her. I swear I saw the body suddenly twitch and I dropped my end and the body slid off the stretcher. Charlene yelled at me What the hell, why did you drop it?! I sure did want to hit that bitch, but I helped back my urges and said I saw it twitch, not my fault. She said Thats impossible. I put quietly lifted by body back onto the stretcher and didnt talk for the rest of the trip to the medical tent.

When we got to the tent we put the stretcher onto a cart and wheeled it over to the table. Charlene looked at me expecting me to do something. Im guess she wanted me to put to transfer the body. Oh, for fucks sake just move the body and get over with it so we can go to the barrack tents. I picked up the body I could hear some of the skin crackling as I threw it onto the table. Charlene washed her gloves off and looked at me also expecting me to wash them I replied Oh come on. She said in a certain tone Fine, not my fault if you infect the whole camp trying to make me feel guilty. I turned around and exited the tent. Before I exited I heard her scoff, and I smiled and walked off.

Comments, Suggestions? I sort of modified Brainbread's storyline, Im probably going to split it into my own later.

It's pretty good at this point, but it could benefit from some more space. Say, when someone talks, you can give them a new line. Some more description would also be nice. (how do our guys look?)

First off Nice job.

OneoftheLost Likes: Content, you got lots of it. Decent grammer, wich is more then I can say for my stories. The bits of info before the story I like knowing who's who.

OneoftheLost Dislikes: As Elite Viking said, what do the charectors look like? Also The main charector, I find it hard to believe that individual made it though boot camp or training for Team Delta (wich is military? or more governmnet like HRT?)
His attittude just doesnt jive with me at all, too stuck up with himself.. but it makes the story more interesting so I cant bag too hard.

Anyhow overall Goodjob!

Ok I will give more info in a bit. After they actually take off their NBC suits. Because the NBC suits are hiding their features. Also another chapter should be out today in a few hours.

The description was good, the layout was good. the idea of having the body on a stretcher and it twitches is brilliant.

Sorry I haven't been posting I recentily reformatted and lost my files. I'm going to retype chapter2 soon. Expect it tomorrow.
