Dont fancie a pop at building your own? Normally turns out cheaper as well lad and its quite an interesting project. At least you can dump your volcanoe of a graphics card! -------------------- |

I know how to build a computer, but I just don't want the hassle. Finding compatible parts, and putting it all together will annoy me
Might just Dell it, it's cheap and the specs are good. This post has been edited by mrmicky on April 12, 2010 10:58 am -------------------- Lightsaver the energy efficient Lightsabre |

Gordon is a ninja
Edit: Lol i just took all the parts out of my comp, looked at them, put them back in. My GPU went from 41 degrees C to 75 degrees C in 5 minutes of the computer being IDLE. How stupid is that? DON'T buy a Dell, because it has lots of advertisement addon bullcrap that it makes it suck. I prefer an HP. But seriously, I'm an American Consumer so I don't know what you would want.

DON'T buy a refurb from PC world. Ex-girlfriend bought two from them - one as a replacement for the first - and they were both crap. And not in terms of specs, I mean they didn't work properly.
Also, build your own. Chances are it'll work out cheaper. Unless this has changed in the past four years... -------------------- |

Thats a really nice rig, considering that now Edit: Using Riva Tuner with Manuel fan control 100%, it's staying at 80 degrees in-game roughly. Not switching off on L4D2 atm, the noise is so loud but the game is working I think. I doubt this can be a permenant solution but it works for now. Scrap all i'v said, removed Heatsink on GPU. Cleaned it up a bit, then diddn't reattach the plastic casing, and now it's 50c idle. 70 (maximum in-game). Seems fixed. Thanks for all your help.

@iliketoblowzombieheadsoff
My Dell XPS 400 works great, and my dad's XPS 410 works great as well. We both recently upgraded to the 9000 series graphics card, I got a 9400 GT (1GB) and he got the 9500 GT (1GB) and it runs games like MW2 and Bad Company 2 beautifully. Unfortunately I do need a new CPU because I have a Pentium D. So it's (apparently) basically a "literal" dual-core, in a physical single-core. I may not be correct on that, it's just what I heard/read. And I'm not supposed to technically be able to run Bad Company 2 according to "Can I Run It?" but I still run it perfectly fine. Very few issues. Dells are great. -------------------- |

Well that's awesome.... it sounds as if yours is just like mine, but even better. Mine's an old-ass Dell, I'll put it at that.... 34GB harddrive. I worn it down some more when I finished the whole HL2 without its graphics card being upgraded (had a default, crappy one). Now it's got a GEForce 9500 GT, 4GB RAM. I can run L4D2 on semi-low settings, as it'll lag on too low and still lag on too high. I can't run Bioshock 1 that well since it lags... so I'm pretty sure it's gonna be worse for any other high-res game. I can however, run HL2 without too much trouble. So mine's a worn-down, single core PC that got its prime upgrades but not enough...
It's just that, a few friends told me Dell had too many things already installed on it already and that makes it suck. Plus, I'd really like to try HP, since my brother's is an HP and it looks fine. But, I think I would rather just get a better DELL pc. -------------------- Current game(s): Uh uh not updatin' this no mo
