There is none. You have to do it manually through players.lvl

How do you make ammo NOT disappear (i.e. unlimited ammo resupply).
I tried mp_weaponstay 1, but that doesnt work. -------------------- |

renegade: i have no idea to be honest. maybe its the mapper who has to do that, but i dont know. posting to add a little info on seeting a password, and player limit.
there are 2 ways currently known to set a password / maxplayer limit. atleast for the maxplayerlimit there are 2 ways. the first would be directly editing the listenserver.cfg or the server.cfg and changing the standard values there. the second would be inputting the information directly into the console before starting up a map, by seperate commands. so, in the console, if you want to start up a game use: maxplayers 12 password (your password here) map (mapname of the map you wish to play. you can also edit any other values you might want to set for your server in the console of steam. it should work. if it doesnt, and anybody finds out another way, post it in the FAQ thread. (update 7/12/2004: it doesnt seem to work currently. its beeing looked at to be fixed. for some people though it does seem to work because ive seen servers with less then 32 players.) |

Many config files aren't loaded automatically. If you want them to be loaded on startup, add "exec (name of config to be loaded)" to the userconfig.cfg. You can also load them manually in-game using the same command. For example: "exec listenserver.cfg" will load the default config for listenservers.

its not possible to increase a players level through the console. you can edit the info in a certain file (somebody else might know which cuz i dont ;P), or set each zombie to make you soo much xp youll level 10 levels per kill, but to directly edit somebody's level is impossible.
earn it i suppose |

You can open .cfg with the "editor", which comes with windows, or any other program capable of changing .txt files.
In order to level extremely fast, set sv_expperlevel 1 and sv_exppotence 1. Note: YOU'll have to host a game in order to make this work. |

I would like to know if there is an official Brain Bread story in the works? The characters seem to have their own little bios, but no real place in the general scheme of things.

maybe we could hold a contest for that in the future, but as of now, there really isnt a official story. we'll think about the story contest though. |

TO ANSWER ALL QUESTION ON MAX PLAYERS & SERVER SET UP:
When starting a dedicated or listen server, steam takes precedence. Always remember that. So if you have maxplayers set to 12 in your server.cfg or listenserver.cfg it will be OVERWRITTEN by what is displayed on the steam server window. Thus (take me for example) if I set maxplayers to 3 in my .cfg file and then open my dedicated server window and the drop down list that says maxplayers is highlighted to 32, then steam automatically will take the value in the drop down list OVER the value in your server.cfg. The reason being is that the order of scanning follows like this: First: your server.cfg Second: Steam's settings in the server setup GUI Make sure your maxplayers value is correctly entererd into the steam server setup GUI too!!! The same goes for passwords. Basically any option you see on the steam window will override what is in your server.cfg. Make sure you set maxplayers and password etc. through the steam window! I.E. when I start my server Steam gives me the following options when creating it: Game: Brain Bread Server Name: |2enegade's Justice Crew 3 Map: bb_heavensgate Network: Internet Max Players: 3 UDP port: 27015 RCON password: ******* Thus it is very important to realize that no matter what you have in your server.cfg or listenserver.cfg that pertains to the above settings, steam's server setup GUI takes precedence because it is loaded after your settings. I.E. if server name in my server.cfg were to say BB Server, it wouldn't matter, whatever appears in the "Server Name:" heading of the setup GUI is what your server will be. When you start your server you will be given additional options such as: Map: Player Password: Map Cycle: **VERY IMPORTANT Player password MUST be set through this interface ALSO map changes should be done through the DROP DOWN list and NOT through the console. Map changes through console causes your server to shutdown and restart, whereas map changes through the drop down list dont shut the server down. (MOST OF THE ABOVE INFORMATION PERTAINS TO DEDICATED SERVERS) HOW TO APPEND YOUR PLAYER LEVEL FILE: I'm not sure if the dev's want me to let this information out, but seeming as its pretty obvious..... there's a players.lvl, open it, it's pretty straight foward. I am currently working on a program that will read and organize players players levels for server admin use. P.S. the numbers AREN'T steam id's, they are coded. I *think* I've cracked the code..... but I won't say, figuring it out by your self is more challenging HINT: take your steam ID and compare it to the ID listed for you in your players.lvl -------------------- |
