Is it possible to set up a LAN brainbread game for two people with the same cd key to play on? It works on other mods but not brainbread. Any obvious solutions?

Nope, you have to use steam to play this, therfore needing different cd-keys.

You could try using the old Won versions of Half life and Brain Bread.

Or play in Offline mode, and connect via LAN that way.

The same question was asked here:

I don't think Brainbread runs if you're using WON. I think you've gotta use Steam.

Moved to Support.

So, you started in offline mode, started brainbread, and clicked Create Game, and it didn't work how? It worked for me at a lan party last weekend.

I started up a game with two computers. They both had the same account and cd key. As I said before, mods usually work with the same cd key. The game kicked me out of brainbread and said that are account was already in use.

If starting a dedicated server, adding the quote without brackets to the command line, this will disable VAC.

"-unsecure"

From what I understand you have to set steam to offline mode, and disable the internet connection by unpluging the modem cable, thats what I did and it worked for me.

What I did was logged into steam, then went into offline mode on one PC, then went to the other computer and logged in and set that to offline, then disconnected the internet. Then I started a listen server and boom, it worked with only one CD key.

Only on the host's comp.
Sv is for serverside variables.

And... by the way... "steam offline" are you talking about True steam launched in offline mode or "steam offline" the hacked steam ?
Oh and post here if your problem was solved.

The full steam offline mode...
Try to login with your normal steam, it will give an error and a choice to run in offline mode. Just click that and you have steam in offline mode.
