I cant get brainbread to launch after ive installed it. It says the short-cut requires an hl.exe file in order to launch, my computer starts an automatic search for it, but then says its been changed or moved and cant be used. This problem wont let me launch brainbread. What do i do?

You need steam

I looked a little further into the missing file. its missing from my computer entirely, and is also missing from the file i downloaded to install BB on my computer. I cant figure out what happened to it, but that missing file wont let me launch my game at all...

You need to have the steam version of half-life downloaded and installed on your computer as well as steam. BrainBread uses half-life to run. Unlike Team Fortress Classic, Counter Strike, and other mods that are distributed directly via steam, third party mods like BB do not install their own hl.exe and rely on the hl.exe that gets installed when you download half-life via steam.
Use steam to download/install half-life, then reinstall BB. It should work. The same is true for all mods listed under "third party." This is not a bug. This post has been edited by rawr on April 29, 2005 05:32 am -------------------- --rawr

i pretty much discovered the problem is caused by the fact that i dont have half-life
but i do have half-life2. which is confusing because i found bb in the hl2 third-party section. i hate that im going to get half-life as soon as i can though, so i can play bb |

I have the very same problem only I've had half-life and steam for a long time, and checked to see that it was up to date before installing BB. When I hit 'Browse...' on the error prompt window and show BB where my hl.exe is, regular half-life just pops up. Also, after installation, BrainBread won't show up the third-party section of my 'Play Games' window in steam.
