Hey, I've been playing around w/ the new release [1.2] and had the same problem:

Fatal Error-
ED_Alloc: no free edicts

When I just play on a local by myself, I can go for hours w/o any problems. Was trying to play w/ a friend (on a pub I made) and had this happen 3 times @ seemingly random moments.

Thought I'd mention I'm running WinXP w/SP2 & running it non-ded. I'll try running a ded on my linux box to see if it still happens sometime this week.

I just started playing yesterday (w/ 1.1 -- had no troubles w/ that btw).. so I'm not at all familiar w/ Map Names or anything.

I have a friend who turned me onto the game.. we should be playing it a lot, later on today, so I'll be sure to pay closer attention to what's happening when the crashes occur.

I will also, just say I encountered the problem aswell.

Spin: The map, that it occured on was the last scifi map of the scifi campaign. I think it was Biodome. smile.gif

I had read through the FAQ that was linked to on the main page and done a search in here. However it was for the entire error, so that result was omitted. When I saw this thread near the top of the Buglist forum, I just decided to post that I was getting the same problem.

Guess you should just lower the gib & zombie count vars.. I get tons of crashing in a 2player game, so maybe just lowering them in the server.cfg would be the best.

I've found this error when I've been mapping in two situations:

1.)An entity in a map triggers multiple entities to do things or come into existence, like an env_shooter spawning 24 gibs or something.

2.) There's some weird bug in hammer that causes phantom entities to exist outside the map, I'm not talking about empty entities, I'm talking about entities you can't see in hammer, but they show up in the entity report.

I've fixed the first one by lowering the amount of entities spawned or just deleting entities.

I fixed the second one by opening the entity map and I found an entity triggering phantom entities so I deleted the phantoms.
